St Thomas Medical Group

Appointments

All patients at each health centre are seen by appointment except in genuine emergencies.

To make an appointment please telephone or call at the relevant health centre during their normal opening hours.  If your doctor is away on leave you will be offered an appointment with another member of the Practice.  If your problem is particularly pressing we will always see you on the same day.  Every afternoon one of the duty doctors at St Thomas will see urgent cases whose conditions cannot wait until the following day.

The Partners usually arrange to cover each other for short periods of leave.  On occasions we will employ an additional locum doctor for extra sessions.

A stacking system works for incoming calls to be answered.  If you phone and obtain the engaged signal it is worth phoning back a few minutes later.

Our nursing sisters may be seen by appointment, both morning and afternoon, in the Treatment Room.  They deal with such things as cervical smears, minor surgery, contraceptive advice, injections, dressings and ear syringing, removal of stitches and advice on vaccinations for foreign travel.

Home Visits

If you require a home visit from your doctor, please ring the relevant health centre before 10.00am giving us some idea of the nature of the problem, as this helps the doctor to plan his or her rounds.
